Prof. Dr. med. Ralf Reintjes, MSc (Public Health), DLSHTM MSc (Epidemiology)

Ralf Reintjes is partner and founding member at ECON-EPI. He holds a full professorship for Epidemiology and Surveillance at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany, and is adjunct professor for Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the University of Tampere, Finland.  Ralf worked as consultant to the WHO, the EU, the German Society for International Collaboration (GIZ) and other organisations in many European, African and Asian countries.

He was a fellow of the European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET) at the National Institute of Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) in the Netherlands, head of the department of hygiene, infectious disease epidemiology and vaccinations at the Institute of Public Health (LÖGD) in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and head of the Emerging Risks Unit at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in Parma, Italy.

Ralf has raised substantial research grants from key fund holders, including the European Commission Framework Programmes (FP6/7) and the Rockefeller Foundation, in close cooperation with international partners such as the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Erasmus University Rotterdam.

He has published extensively in the fields of epidemiology, surveillance, healthcare systems, policy research and health economics.
